Developing and maintaining a sourdough culture can be time consuming and costly.

We strived to develop a sourdough starter culture that is 100% pure, free from fillers, and zero maintenance for the self sustainable baker.

Making sourdough at home is so easy, economical and environmentally friendly. It's an effective way to reduce the amount of single-use plastic going into landfill plus you're in control of what goes in it. 

3 x 5g sachets makes at least 10 Loaves of Authentic Homemade Sourdough Bread using water, salt, a flour source of choice and your favourite recipe. Note you can keep the culture going to get much more usage out of each packet. Each packet can be stored frozen for up to 2 years.

Why is your Pure Sourdough Levain more expensive than other products?

Our Pure Sourdough Levain is composed of 100% pure sourdough bacteria and yeast isolated from Parisian Sourdough which makes it more costly to produce. Our product does not contain cheap fillers like Maltodextrin which can make up greater than 90% of like products. Alway check the label when making comparisons.

SHIPPING INFORMATION

IMPORTANT: We only ship our fresh cultures on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (as the item is stored refrigerated) so that they do not remain in transit via Australia Post over the weekend

Sourdough starter

I made the sourdough granules in to z nice smelling stater with gluten free flour. Flat breads tasted nice like dosa . I’m not sure if it would make a gluten free brad rise. I have yet to experiment more with this new little beastie.

A great starter !

If you have tried to make your own starter and had poor results (as I did). I would recommend this levain. After adding the required flour and water and waiting a really great result! The mix was very active, with lots of bubbles, and a good strong smell. The bread that resulted was crusty and delish. Although due to ambient temperature being low on the day proving was overnight. I have been able to store and feed this starter so I'm looking forward to even more bread. A top quality product and a great way to get a quality starter. Plus with the 3 pack you can freeze the other packs in case of emergency.
