What are Mycorrhizal Fungi/ Mycorrhizae?

Mycorrhizae” literally means “fungus” – “root” and describes the mutually beneficial relationship between the plant and root fungus. These specialised fungi colonise plant roots in a symbiotic manner and extend far into the soil. Mycorrhizal fungal filaments in the soil are truly extensions of root systems and are more effective in nutrient and water absorption than the roots themselves. More than 95 percent of terrestrial plant species form a symbiotic relationship with beneficial mycorrhizal fungi, and have evolved this symbiotic relationship over the past several hundred million years. These fungi predate the evolution of terrestrial plants, and it was the partnership with mycorrhizal fungi that allowed plants to begin to colonise dry land and create life on Earth as we know it.

The mycorrhizal symbiotic relationship centres on the plant’s ability to produce carbohydrates through photosynthesis and share some of these sugars with the fungus in return for otherwise unavailable water and nutrients that are sourced from the soil or growing media by the extensive network of mycelial hyphae produced by the fungus. It’s a two-way relationship of sharing resources between two species, thus a classic symbiotic mutualism. Mycorrhizal fungi rely on the plant, and the plant’s performance and survival are enhanced by the fungus.

About our Mycorrhizal Fungi/ Mycorrhizae

Suspended powder mycorrhizal blend consisting of 9 species of endomycorrhizal fungi, 10 species of ectomycorrhizal fungi, 2 trichoderma species, and 12 beneficial bacteria species well-suited to a variety of soils, climates and plants. About 95% of the world’s plant species form symbiotic relationships with at least one of these types of symbiotic soil fungus. These beneficial fungi greatly increase the effective rooting area of plants, thereby enhancing plant growth, vigour, and tolerance of environmental extremes.  This formula contains mycorrhizal propagules, which colonise roots and extend into the surrounding soil forming an essential link between plants and soil resources. Increasing the rooting area allows improved access to water and nutrients, promoting plant quality and crop performance. Also included are a blend of specially formulated amendments, as well as Trichoderma and beneficial bacteria.

  • 9 species Endomycorrhizae: Glomus intraradices, Glomus mosseae, Glomus aggregatum, Glomus etunicatum, Glomus deserticola, Glomus clarum, Glomus monosporum, Paraglomus brasilianum, Gigaspora margarita
  • 30,000 Endomycorrhizal Propagules per lb.
  • 10 species Ectomycorrhizae: Rhizopogon villosulus, Rhizopogon luteolus, Rhizopogon amylopogon, Rhizopogon fulvigleba, Pisolithus tinctorius, Scleroderma cepa, Scleroderma citrinum, Suillus granulatus, Laccaria bicolor, Laccaria laccata
  • 0.7 billion Ectomycorrhizal Propagules per kg.
  • 12 species Beneficial Bacteria
  • 2 species Trichoderma
  • Kelp, Humic Acids, Vitamins, and specially formulated amendments

Mycorrhizal Fungi Probiotic Soil Fertiliser - 200g

Thank you Trent

I first got intouch with you after reading about how to plant a new rose where an old rose had been growing. I had 10 new roses to plant where old rose's had been removed. I did not expect the Mycorrhizal Fungi Probiotic Soil Fertiliser to actually work. I was wrong. The roses have grown beautifully, are full of flowers and they look the best of all my roses. I am now using it on my vegetable garden. This is an amazing product.

Thank you Vicki..what a great result with your roses

Mycorrhizal probiotic soil fertiliser

The package arrived promptly and safely. Having read other reviews, I have included a teaspoon per seedling that I have planted and will continue to do so. So far, all the veggies I've planted are doing well. I will be able to tell whether the fertiliser has enhanced growth at harvest time. Really looking forward to it!

Thank you so much Claire...hope the harvest goes well

Veggie booster

I used this fungi last summer on most of my chillies, and there was a definite result , the fruit was twice the size, more prolific and better tasting, than the plants that did not have the fungi .
Very impressed , I’m using it this year on all veggie seedlings.

Wonderful result Toby...thank you for sharing with us

Fungus for the win

Fantastic product which I’ve used before, highly recommend! Mycorrhizae is a fantastic fungus that basically helps your roots find food in the soil. And in return receives sugar from the plants 🌱. Amazing stuff 🤙❤️

Thank you's an amazing critter
