I was using a recycled glass jar with lid slightly ajar for our kefir for many years, then I was pouring it through a plastic seize into big glass bowl. It worked, but this is a lot easier. I use the kefirko with the lid screwed on firmly and I love the taste and texture much better than what I was making previously. The excitement of a new product and the ease of use has meant I have now handed our kefir making over to our kids. If you don’t have the money, you can do it without the kefirko, but it is much easier for experienced kefir makers and would be excellent for beginners, less complicated!
