Hi there. I find it hard to “review” these things, when one is just starting out on a new fermenting journey. The Durand 5L jug was my Christmas present so I have just filled this with a 2L batch today. I plan to add another 2L on about day 7, and see if I can get the continuous mojo going. When I received the Jun and Kombucha starters I made a 1L batch of each and they have both taken well. I ditched the teabag and used some quality green tea i had and some beautiful honey from a local producer I bought especially for Jun (she makes mead, so this smelled amazing). At the moment it tastes like ‘unsweetened honey’, which is a little mind bending, but nice! I thought the black tea was very sour at first and had to leave it over Christmas, and thought it would taste like vinegar, but today it has developed more depth of flavour and is ok. I don’t want it sweet anyway. I will add some flavours for a second fermentation later today, and look forward to seeing how that goes. I have just been given a few bags of apricots so that will be one of them. Both Scobies and starter teas in excellent condition and took well. I am grateful to have a couple of years experience up my sleeve with kefir and having done lots of research before taking this project on. Blue vessel looks lovely on my shelf.👍
