Description
What are Mycorrhizal Fungi/ Mycorrhizae?

Mycorrhizae” literally means “fungus” – “root” and describes the mutually beneficial relationship between the plant and root fungus. These specialised fungi colonise plant roots in a symbiotic manner and extend far into the soil. Mycorrhizal fungal filaments in the soil are truly extensions of root systems and are more effective in nutrient and water absorption than the roots themselves. More than 95 percent of terrestrial plant species form a symbiotic relationship with beneficial mycorrhizal fungi, and have evolved this symbiotic relationship over the past several hundred million years. These fungi predate the evolution of terrestrial plants, and it was the partnership with mycorrhizal fungi that allowed plants to begin to colonise dry land and create life on Earth as we know it.

The mycorrhizal symbiotic relationship centres on the plant’s ability to produce carbohydrates through photosynthesis and share some of these sugars with the fungus in return for otherwise unavailable water and nutrients that are sourced from the soil or growing media by the extensive network of mycelial hyphae produced by the fungus. It’s a two-way relationship of sharing resources between two species, thus a classic symbiotic mutualism. Mycorrhizal fungi rely on the plant, and the plant’s performance and survival are enhanced by the fungus.

 About our Mycorrhizal Fungi/ Mycorrhizae

Suspended powder mycorrhizal blend consisting of 9 species of endomycorrhizal fungi, 10 species of ectomycorrhizal fungi, 2 trichoderma species, and 12 beneficial bacteria species well-suited to a variety of soils, climates and plants. About 95% of the world’s plant species form symbiotic relationships with at least one of these types of symbiotic soil fungus. These beneficial fungi greatly increase the effective rooting area of plants, thereby enhancing plant growth, vigour, and tolerance of environmental extremes.  This formula contains mycorrhizal propagules, which colonise roots and extend into the surrounding soil forming an essential link between plants and soil resources. Increasing the rooting area allows improved access to water and nutrients, promoting plant quality and crop performance. Also included are a blend of specially formulated amendments, as well as Trichoderma and beneficial bacteria.

Best thing ever

I bought mycorrhizal a few months ago and did a test, I used the mycorrhizal on 5 tomato plants (1 teaspoon in each hole) I didn't even fertilise them. I planted 3 other seedlings without the mycorrhizal and fertilised them with tomato fertiliser, they were all planted at the same time, the ones that had the mycorrhizal grew faster, stronger and bore at least 3 times more fruit. It was a great investment which is why I've bought another 2 bags for my next lot of veg. So needless to say I would highly recommend this product

Wonderful results Vickie... sounds like a fun experiment

Product arrived promptly

Great service from the team. Purchased the product to help the new soil I put where a rose had died.
Can’t really say how the Product went because when I planted the new standard rose a week later it died but this may have been caused by all the rain.

Thank you Jo

Mycorrhizal fungi

It’s too early to really review the product however I used it to pot up my fruit trees. They usually go into a little shock and I miss out of fruit but I can see fruit setting. Seems they haven’t missed a beat.

Great to hear Carlee
