What is Natto? 

Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. It has been known since ancient time. Many people eat natto, so you can say that it is a food that is loved by many generations. Making natto includes a fermentation process to convert carbohydrates into alcohol or organic acids using microorganisms (natto starter/natto bacillus) under anaerobic conditions. Therefore, the ingredients of natto are soybeans and natto starter only.

Very good but expensive

I had an old natto starter but it was years old in the fridge and created moldy spots on my chickpeas now this new batch (quite expensive) did not create the mold but not as stringy as soy beans become. Next batch I will add more although for only 1g seems very expensive I must say. 10g would be better for the price or I may have to order directly from Japan. We'll see how long it lasts thanks so only 4 stars for now.

Have previously used with soybeans and was great. Used with chickpeas this time. Not quite so good but more palatable.

A tasty product from this easy-to-use Natto Organic Starter Culture powder 1g

The Nourishme Organics natto starter provides a tasty product, when used for culture at 40 degrees C with cooked, husked, organic soybeans, but also works with cooked, husked and chopped chickpeas. The stickiness/characteristic slimy texture of the product can vary though, from packet to packet. The company management is friendly and responsive to emails. The product has always been dispatched quickly and, with express post chosen, has so far arrived to the interstate destination within three days.
