About your teacher: Kriben Govender, is a Food Scientist, Registered Nutritionist and Founder of
Nourishme Organics, a company specialising in Gut Health and Mitochondrial health-focused products and
Allele Microbiome – a provider of cutting edge Metagenomic Stool Testing and Deuterium Testing.
Kriben holds a honours degree in Applied Science (Food Science and Technology) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition Society of Australia.
With more than 20 years of Food industry experience in the field of Research and Development, Quality Assurance and Procurement, Kriben intimately understands the food supply chain and the interaction between diet and the gut microbiome. He has personally visited more than 100 food processing sites across the world.
Kriben is an expert in the art of making fermented foods like Kefir, Kombucha and fermented vegetable etc and was a Judge in the 2019 RASV Australia Food Awards.
He is the host of one of Australia's leading Nutrition Podcasts - The Gut Health Gurus Podcast https://www.podcast.nourishmeorganics.com.au/ where he frequently interviews health experts from around the world.
Around 8 years ago, Kriben's life imploded. He was extremely depressed, overweight and lacking in energy and vibrancy. He found himself alone in an apartment, ready to end his life. A combination of workplace bullying, stress, a struggle with anxiety and depression and a collapsed marriage resulted in a sense of worthlessness. For the sake of his 3 young boys, Kriben soldiered on and discovered the importance of gut health on his mental wellbeing. He found inspiration in the work of Dr Natasha Campbell McBride through here book Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS): Natural Treatment for Autism, Dyspraxia, A.D.D., Dyslexia, A.D.H.D., Depression, Schizophrenia. He started to follow a GAPS diet, make homemade fermented foods like kefir, kombucha and sauerkraut, adopted a transcendental meditation (TM) and yoga practice, attended cognitive behaviour therapy sessions with a psychologist, learned the Meisner and Alexander acting techniques - all which helped him overcome his struggle with anxiety and depression. With this newfound knowledge, he launched Nourishme Organics to help others heal their bodies via Gut Health.
Kriben then went on to found Allele Microbiome- a company focused on bringing cutting edge metagenomic DNA based stool testing to the public. He has been greatly inspired by the work of Dr Jack Kruse, Dr Gabor Somlyai, Dr Laszlo Boros and Prof Doug Wallace which let him explore the importance of Mitochondrial Health on overall health. Recently he has introduced Australia's first direct to public urine and saliva deuterium test and is in the process of launching Low D- A Deuterium Depleted Glacial Spring Water to optimise mitochondrial function.
Kriben is available for face to face or online nutrition consulting with a particular focus on Gut and Mitochondrial optimisation at The Nourishme Organics shop in Cheltenham, Melbourne. VIC.
He is also available for speaking engagements, interviews and podcasts. Please contact us to make a booking.

I haven't been able to find plain (unroasted) organic chicory root powder anywhere else in the world (unless you're a business buying bulk). There is one company in the USA called Microinhredients that I bought from, but they're fraudulent -- selling blue agave inulin in their "chicory root" powder bags. Why is this stuff so hard to find? Must be because of the amazing health benefits, and the powers that be don't want us healthy.
So happy I finally decided to purchase some live keffir have been enjoying a good brew daily since .. thanks guys these jars make it so much easier to do the whole process .. both cultures were ready to go on arrival too.
Excellent service, very fast delivery, fantastic product, been using for 2 years and it really makes a huge difference. Highly recommend Nourishme Organics, their products are fantastic
I'm finding this kombucha more challenging to work with, but the end result is delicious and I'm enjoying the process of discovery along the way. I'm still yet to get a fizz from the second ferment, but it's super delicious any way so I'm happy with the result.
